My kids and I recently had the adventure of cooking when we reviewed the Handstand Kids Chinese Cookbook. But this is not just any cookbook! This is a cookbook designed for kids to learn about other cultures while they are learning how to cook nutritious meals!

“Packaged in a large takeout box with child-friendly chopsticks, the Chinese Cookbook kit introduces kid chefs ages 3 to 12 to delicious and healthy Chinese recipes. Recipes like Spring-a-licious Spring Rolls, Kung Pow! Chicken, and Year of the Monkey Smoothies take your little chef around the world through your own kitchen. All the utensils and ingredients are translated into Mandarin so you can speak the language of China as you cook! The recipes are leveled from 1 to 4 chopsticks so you will know the age appropriate level for your little chef.”
So what were we going to make..decisions…decisions…we finally chose “Belly Full of Beef and Broccoli” and for dessert we made “Golden Sun Almond Cookies” and could not have been happier! The cool part was that Betsy was really interested in reading the facts listed at the bottom of each page.
This recipe happened to have “3 Chopsticks” which indicated it needed an adult to help with some of the steps. I was more than happy to help – I love cooking! We each took turns adding the ingredients and what we ended up with for dinner was YUMMY! This recipe was a total keeper and we will definitely be cooking it again!

I must admit, I was really looking forward to these. But after reading how easy they were to make and the very few ingredients required to make them, I was skeptical of how they were going to taste. But HOLY TOMATO! These were the best cookies EVER! I am not joking when I say they taste exactly like the Almond Cookies sold in our local Chinese Restaurant – absolutely Delicious. And of course – A KEEPER!

Handstand Kids offers more than just a Chinese Cookbook Kit. They also offer a Mexican Cookbook Kit, an Italian Cookbook Kit as well as accessories to go along with the kits!
I absolutely think this would be a great gift for any child. But also any parent. My kids and I had a wonderful time cooking in the kitchen together and it allowed us more time to talk.
Great Gift For: Kids 3 and Up, Parents, Teachers (really cool recipes to use for school projects), Preschools, Babysitters
The Handstand Kids Cookbooks sell for 25.00 and can be purchased here.

Oh wow that looks delicious! I love this for an idea as a gift.
I think it is so fun that they have the number of chopsticks to say how many helpers you will need. that is cool.
Getting kids to help cook helps them eat healthier – I'm checking this out. Love the packaging too, very cute!
