Every year one of the main ways I get into the Christmas Spirit is by watching Christmas movies, but I seem to watch the same ones over and over again. Although, really, how can you get sick of Miracle on 34th Street? But I was really fortunate to receive the book “Have Yourself a Movie Little Christmas” by Alonso Duralde which is a guide to the best and “the most entertainingly terrible ones”.

I think every movie about Christmas is listed in this book! But it is not just listed. For each movie listed there is a synopsis of what the movie is about, as well as “Fun Facts” about the movie. The chapters are divided as follows:

1. With the Kids Jingle Belling – Christmas Movies for Kids 2. Nestled All Snug in Their Beds – Christmas Movies for Grownups 3. Like a Bowlful of Jelly – Christmas Comedies 4. A Blue Blue Christmas – Holiday Tear Jerkers 5. Putting the Heist Back into Christmas – Crime and Action Extravaganzas 6. There’ll be Scary Ghost Stories – Holiday Horrors 7. Scrooge-A-Palooza – “A Christmas Carol” on Film 8. The Worst Christmas (Movies) Ever – Lumps of Coal in your Cinema Stocking 9. Just Like the Ones I Used to Know – Christmas Classics

There are so many movies in here that I had never heard of, but definitely want to see now! If I hadn’t received this book, I too would have still been in the dark about all these Christmas Movies I have been missing. I know it sounds terrible, but I think my son would really enjoy “Who Slew Auntie Roo” (1971) starring Shelley Winters. A ghoulish inspired movie inspired by the fable “Hansel and Gretal” this is sure to be a hair necking raising kind of Christmas movie! But like I said before, I never would have heard of this story if it wasn’t for this book!

And I really enjoyed the Fun Facts about each of the movies. For example, did you know in the movie “Lassie” (2005) three dogs were used for the movie? A running dog, a stunt dog, and a picture dog and vegetable dyes were used to make all three look identical!

Have Yourself a Movie Little Christmas was written by Alonso Duralde and can be purchased on Amazon for 16.99 and is also available in Kindle format!

Great Gift For: Anyone who enjoys movies!
