Recently I had the opportunity to review the new card game Ratuki from Hasbro. We had a blast – it was so much fun! The weather here has been snowy & icy, so it was a treat to be able to play games at night. And for the last three nights in a row it has been nothing but Ratuki from Hasbro!

Ratuki is a fast moving, easy to play game. The recommended starting age is 8 and I think that is just about right.

“With Ratuki, families will enjoy card-slamming fun as they race to complete runs of five with numbered cards represented by Roman numerals, numbers and dice. Players will feel a rush of excitement as they try to be the first to slam down their cards and collect the most cards in the group.”

You literally are slamming cards down. You build piles of cards numbered 1-5. Each pile must start with a “1″ but then once the pile has a “2″ you can put a “1″ or a “3″ on top. You can try and build that pile of cards high because once it hits “5″ you need to yell “Ratuki” and grab the pile. When the first person runs out of cards the game is over. You then count your cards and keep score that way. There were a few rules that made you have to think rather than just rush. For example. You can only hold cards in one hand and put cards down in one hand. No double handing. This was a hard rule to follow because you are going so quickly you want to use both hands! The rule made this game so much more fun!

Ratuki is definitely high on my list of favorite games! Approximate retail is only 9.99 and definitely worth it in my opinion. I know we will be playing this game until we run the cards raw!
