My Opinion:

I thought The Alternative Medicine Cabinet presented a nice overview of natural health information. There is a lot of information packed into this small book, so if you are looking for detailed information on one particular issue, this may not be the book for you. However, if you are just getting into more natural health alternatives this would be a great reference book. The author covers everything from cancer to massage to sleep and everything in between. One of the things I found most interesting in the book was the chapter on Bach Flower Essences. According to Gruver, “The essences work on the emotional state of the person, transforming the negative into positive.” I am definitely going to have to read more about that.

Each chapter in the book is short and to the point, but at the same time, provides you with enough information for you to determine if you want to pursue the subject in more detail. Additionally, at the end of the book, Gruver provides a “How to Stay Sick List” and a “How to Stay Well List”. I am thinking she may have been reading my mind when she wrote the “How to Stay Sick List”. This definitely brought my attention to the negative thought patterns I have and I will definitely try working on my “How to Stay Well List”.
